Rica Erickson (1908-2009) trained as a teacher and became a farmer’s wife in the Bolgart district. She made a rare and diversified contribution to the understanding of Western Australian rural life. A keen naturalist, she was an authority on the orchids of Western Australia and a botanical artist.
She published extensively on the history of rural Western Australia and was founder of the Biographical Index and Dictionary of Western Australians, the first project of its kind in the English-speaking world.
