Historical information

The Great Pearl Tragedy is the first installment of the Bella Trilogy.
The Poster was produced to advertise the upcoming Worn Art Revamped show featuring Wearable Art pieces on display and in movement.
This is the first show of a newly formatted Worn Art event. The previous writer and director of the Worn Art events "Gwen Knox" retired and passed the baton on to her protegee "Lesley Marsh" who then created a storyline from old Broome tales and stories. This produced the "Bella Trilogy" a series of shows that were based in the Pearling hey-days of Broome. This was a perfect backdrop to hang costumes upon and included, old time Cable Beach races, gambling houses, drinking houses, opium dens and the many bars and pubs found in Chinatown when the luggers came in after a pearling trip. Money, alcohol, gambling, drugs and women were plentiful.
