HENRY THOMAS BUCKLAND

Henry Thomas Buckland was born in 1863 and died 4/9/1933. He lived in Claremont Avenue in 1902 and then he and his family lived at 1 Queen Street from 1903 - 1933. They had two daughters Eileen and Annie. Henry Buckland had wanted to be an organ maker when he was growing up in England. His parents couldn't afford it, so he came out to Australia and became an engineer. He worked and lived at the Osborne Electric Light Station and Waterworks in Osborne Parade from c1895 - 1901and became manager. His wife Phoebe, died in 1935. The house was left to their daughter Eileen Buckland, who lived there until she got ill and went to live with her daughter Elvie Godfrey in 1972 -73. The house was sold in 1975 and has since been demolished.
