Overview

Image: The image shows the Jones family standing outside their home which was the first house in Subiaco, in Roberts Road, known as 'Jones Folly'. It was erected about 1886. The house features a long verandah with highly ornamental cast-iron lace. The gables are likewise highly decorative. There are three urns filled with plants placed at intervals around the side of the house. Mr and Mrs Jones stand with three children and an older girl. There is a small black dog at the right of the image. Mr Jones is wearing a dark suit with a stiff white collar. Mrs Jones, standing in the middle, wears a long black frock with leg-o-mutton sleeves and a lace yoke with high collar. A young woman at the left is wearing a short jacket with leg-o-mutton sleeves, a black blouse and a long check skirt. There are three young children in the front; two are wearing long black cloaks, and a boy is dressed in a two piece suit with short pants. The site is now occupied by Ramseys.
