Historical information

This photograph has text on the back identifying the occasion as the reception of the Governor. Governor Bedford did come to Newcastle in 1908 to start the extension of the railway to Bolgart.
The same image has also been reproduced in another photograph in the museum collection (2000.69), where it was identified as the visit of Sir John Forrest, to open the water supply in 1908.
